10 Things All Coffee Addicts Know To Be True

  1. IMG_9091Drinking coffee in the morning is both crucial and necessary.
  2. The prettier the latte, the better it tastes.
  3. You can always judge a coffee place by their cappuccino.
  4. Having 3 cups a day is totally normal, and you can still fall asleep at night no matter what time of day you take a coffee break.
  5. The best conversations are had over a cup of coffee.
  6. When you find out that someone else is a coffee addict you feel an instant connection; you just don’t get along as well with tea
  7. You are always on the lookout for a new coffee shop, but there is that one shop that will always have your heart.
  8. Hanging out with your best friend will 99.9% of the time include getting coffee.
  9. You will never say no when someone asks if you want coffee.
  10. Coffee is simply just a part of who you are.

Jewels of July

I’m going to start giving recommendations on great finds every so often. So, here is one for July!

  • Double Wrap Long necklace in Seaport: This necklace is from a non-profit company in Dallas called The Akola Project. The company empowers women in Uganda by employing these women to create beads and jewelry at a rate 3 times above the poverty line. This necklace is part of the Color Collection, and it can take up to 10 minutes for each bead to be hand rolled by a Ugandan woman. Because of the wages earned from Akola, the women are able to support their dependents. Additionally, they are offered holistic programs with education over subjects such as wellness, shepherding finances, and ministry. I have been interning for Akola this summer and I love the mission and the message of this company, as well as the gorgeous jewelry!   • Unreasonable Hope by Chad Veach: I’ve seen Chad Veach preach at camps and conferences over the past few years, and he is one of the most impactful pastors. His daughter Georgia was born with a condition called Lissencephaly, or “smooth brain”. Though the battle with this condition has not been even remotely easy for Chad and his wife, they continue to hope and trust in God no matter what happens. This book is so inspiring to me because it is about more than just hope; it is about hope in the most unreasonable circumstances. It’s an incredible read and Veach reminds us to trust God’s plans and to never lose hope.
  • Unicorn Balm from good4you Herbals: If you’ve read my blog before, you are probably aware that I love all-natural makeup. One of my favorite shops has come out with a limited edition lip balm with only 14 in the batch. This Unicorn Balm features coconut oil, lilac flowers, pink roses, and pure mica glitter for a little bit of shimmer. It’s super gorgeous, and of course it smells amazing too! Delicious Homemade Açaí Bowl Recipe

Hey, everyone!

I know that it’s been awhile, but I’m back with a super yummy recipe just in time for summer. Açaí bowls are delicious and there are so many ways to customize the bowl just the way that you like. Today I will share with you my favorite nutrient-packed homemade açaí bowl recipe. 


  • 1 packet of frozen açaí base
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon psyllium husk
  • 1 teaspoon of spirulina powder
  • Handful of kale and spinach leaves (blend with flax/almond/coconut milk before adding other ingredients to minimize chunks)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • Flax/almond/coconut milk added until the mix blends

Toppings (all optional):

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Coconut flakes
  • Chia seeds
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon


How and Why I Chose My University

Last year I graduated from a high school where the academic atmosphere was extremely rigorous. My Senior year of high school, I took all AP courses and I probably slept, on average, about 4 hours a night. My life was full of studying, GPA calculating, and lots and lots of coffee. To me, this was normal because this is what all of the other “AP kids” did too. Starting Junior year, all anyone talked about was college, and I felt like I was lost because I wasn’t entirely sure where to even apply. I’m not saying this to complain, but I think setting the scene is important in letting you know how I ended up choosing where to go to college.

My Senior year, I applied to nine colleges of all varieties: Ivy Leagues, state schools and private schools. Like most people, I wasn’t entirely sure of where I would end up, but of course I was hoping to get in to all of the schools that I applied to and to receive incredible scholarships from them all so that I would be able to choose wherever I wanted to go. (Obviously life doesn’t work that way, but I ended up having an amazing selection).

As the year went on, I toured a large majority of the places that I had applied to. I never fell in love with any particular college on a tour, but I figured that was normal. One day, I felt like I needed a mental health day, or really just a small break from my AP lifestyle, so I decided to visit the closest college that I applied to, Southern Methodist University. I had no idea that I would fall in love with a college practically down the street from my house (more like 30-45 minutes away but, close enough).

Right when I stepped on campus, something just felt right. My mom and I weren’t sure where the building we needed to go to was, and a student came up to us and helped up with directions. In addition to the kind people, the campus itself was gorgeous. My tour guide was an outgoing business major with a genuine passion for the university. As the tour went on, I got to hear all about the typical things that are talked about during a tour: student-to-faculty ratio, dorms, and everything of that sort. Though all of these facts were amazing, and they were taken into account during my selection, they weren’t what sold me.

I knew SMU was right for me when I could seriously see myself on the campus. I know, it sounds absolutely cheesy, but it was the one college that I felt like fit me the best. I knew that I would be happy at SMU because the university had so many opportunities to give back to the community, to get involved, and to further professional development. I knew that this school would make me a better person because it has the same values as I do. I didn’t choose where to go to college based on Ivy League status, how many of my friends were going there, or if my parents told me that it was where they think that I should go.


To all of the seniors who have already chosen: I hope that your college makes you feel like you’re at home and that you are so happy with your decision.

To all of the seniors who have a little less than a month to choose: Which place makes you feel at home? Which college will make you a better person, but also accepts the person that you are today? Where are the kinds of people that you want to be friends with? Where can you accomplish your goals? Go there.

Fit Doesn’t Have a Body Type

I follow many fitness accounts on Twitter and Instagram, and I have yet to see any two women who look exactly the same. Additionally, many women have completely different exercise regimens and dietary preferences. Regardless, I believe that each woman that I follow is fit and healthy in her own way. Below I will highlight three of my greatest inspirations.

1.Emily Skye


Emily Skye is a fitness enthusiast and is an inspiration with her veggie-intensive diet and her dedication to weight training and HIIT workouts. She often Snapchats or posts videos on Instagram post-workout letting her followers know how her workouts went that day. She also has an online program titled F.I.T. and she often posts before and after photos showing how her program has changed many people’s lives. Though she may seem superhuman with her strict diet and workout routine, she can often be spotted on Snapchat winding down with a latte and some chocolate covered strawberries on the weekend- it’s all about balance!

2. Ashy Bines


Ashy Bines is an Australian fitness guru and swimwear model. She has many online programs and challenges, and she is just recently a new mama. Ashy’s Snapchat is basically a live stream of her life from when she wakes up until when she goes to sleep. In these Snapchat stories, she often includes fitness advice and shows what meals she is making on a daily basis. Ashy is great about being real and honest with her followers and she working to get back that pre-baby body!

3. Cassey Ho


Cassey Ho  has created her own online community through the creation of her YouTube account, Blogilates, where she uploads free workout videos on a weekly basis. The videos range from pop pilates(her own creation), to HIIT workouts, to cardio and so much more. She has inspired me immensely with her acceptance of her body and her willingness to get better and push herself to new limits. She also has a passion for design and has chased this dream by creating her own activewear line!


Though each of these women look very different, follow different workout plans and have different diets, they are all healthy and fit. These women strive to inspire others through their determination and they do not keep quiet about their passion for health and fitness over social media. I highly recommend following each of these woman for inspiration to live a happy, healthy, and balanced lifestyle.

I hope that this post proves that fit doesn’t have a body type; each woman knows what is best for her body and I find that inspiring. I challenge you to find what makes you feel good and what nourishes not only your body but your spirit as well!

Natural Glow

If you’ve read my blog before, you most likely already know that my beauty routine is nearly 100% composed of all-natural products. Because of this, I am constantly searching for the newest and most effective organic beauty products. Trends come and go in the makeup realm, and most recently highlighter is all of the rage.

I love the way that highlighter can brighten up the face and bring out a natural glow. If you’re looking to detoxify your makeup routine, I recommend trying out these two products by Plantfolk Apothecary and Glory Boon. One is a shimmer balm and the other is a powder. They can be used together or separately but they are both gold and work extremely well. I received both of these products for Christmas and absolutely can’t get enough!

What College Can Teach You in Just One Semester

To say that I’ve learned more in one semester of college than I have learned my whole life would be an overstatement, but here are some of the many things that college has taught me in such a short amount of time.

Getting Involved is Crucial: Everyone told me that getting involved on campus is the greatest way to make the most out of your college experience, and they were absolutely correct. This gives you something to do and it is also probably the easiest and most natural way to make new friends.

Making (True) Friends Doesn’t Come Easily: The first couple of weeks are all about shaking hands and introducing yourself to everybody. People weren’t lying when they said that you probably won’t end up best friends with the first few people that you meet. It takes a couple of weeks, but you will meet people that you click with and you’ll basically just know that you’re going to be great friends.

You don’t have enough time in the day, unless you make it: Cleaning your room, working out, or doing your laundry will never happen unless you plan it out and really set aside time for it. There are so many things going on each day that it’s easy to end up asking yourself how it’s one in the morning and you haven’t checked a single thing off of your to-do list.


You may love coffee even more than you thought you possibly could: In the morning, mid-morning, afternoon, evening, or really just whenever you can get your hands on it. Somehow college has a way of bringing even the most stubbornly opposed people to walk across campus with a Starbucks.

You should try getting out of your comfort zone: Explore the surrounding city, try a new coffee shop, or talk to that person in your class. College holds endless opportunities for you to grow as a person and learn more about the world around you.

Be yourself: College is absolutely the time to engage in some self-discovery, and you are bound to change and grow. That being said, do not let your true self slip away. It may seem obvious, but it is so easy to take on the personalities and interests of the people around you who seem to be having tons of fun going out and partying. If that isn’t you, you don’t have to pretend that it is.

It’s okay to stay in on weeknights: There is something going on every night. You see it all over social media while you’re frantically writing an essay and feel like you’re missing out. But, you will thank yourself when you receive your final grades and your work ethic proves to be worth it. There is always the weekend.
